President’s Message
February, 2005
I am continually amazed at the great turnout at the HAVOC meetings. There were 33 members and guests present at the January meeting. Thanks to the great work of Nick Nagy, Membership Chairman and all of you who talk up HAVOC wherever you go. HAVOC now has approximately 74 paid members. We have gained new members at every meeting. I get many calls from interested individuals after the meeting notices come out in the News-Journal.
I want to encourage everyone to attend the February annual meeting of HAVOC. Officers for the New Year will be announced and voted on and we have a great program lined up by Gloria Luther about the Healthy Volusia project. It is the time of year following the holiday feasting and New Year’s resolutions when we are all thinking about having a healthier lifestyle.
A lot of progress is being made on accessibility issues and we need to keep up the momentum. My resolution is to see everyone involved in one of the committees to further the goals of HAVOC for improved quality of life for all disabled citizens of Volusia County.

I attended Lucy Albanese's
funeral last Saturday at Epiphany Catholic Church. The eulogies by her family,
friends, and pastor, and the music were a beautiful tribute to a lady who I did
not know until after she passed away.
Lucy seemed to be a woman who was so unselfish no matter how serious her
problems were, she did not want to burden others with them. What an example she
left us all.
