Cancellation Notice

Beach Party Picnic Cancelled

With a new tropical depression forming in the Atlantic that would arrive in two weeks the HAVOC Executive agreed to cancel the Beach Party Picnic. With the uncertainty of the weather until we get out of hurricane season, it seemed the best thing to do.

In case some of you are not aware, Frank Bruno, a great friend and advocate for the disabled was elected as the first four-year chairman of the Volusia County Council.

Lucy Albanese suffered a stroke on August 13. She is recuperating at the Coquina Center, 170 N. Center St. in Ormond Beach. She is in room 202B and would love to have visitors. Please stop by and cheer her up. We understand Patsy Rush was moved to a facility in Orange County. Remember Al and Patsy in your thoughts and prayers.

We hope everyone survived the storms with out a lot of damage. IF you have any special needs as a result of the storms, please contact me.

Anyone interested in running for any office or wants to submit someone’s name, please contact Dominick Sileo, the nominating committee chairman at (386) 767-9847. Hope to see you all at the October meeting.

We're having a young woman move in with us this weekend. Unfortunately, when our younger son moved out he took all of his bedroom furniture with him. So now we're in search of everything. We specially need a bed. She'll have some money to work with. But we're trying to see what we can get donated first. The other items she needs are a shower chair and grab bars. We're also looking for a portable clothes rack. If someone has any of these items and could deliver them we'd give them gas money. Our phone number is 760-0834 (home) 453-5705 (my cell).

Some Check tips

Always put your initials on your checks and last name to foil forgery. Only use the last for digits of account # on the memo line. No need to give info to others. Besides your creditor knows the rest.

If you have a work phone # use on a check instead of a home #. If you have a P.O. box use this instead of your home address. Never put your SS# on your check. Photo copy all ID and Credit Cards both sides. Just in case you have the need to cancel them.

In case of thief file a police report. It will help in an investigation. And call the 3 national Credit Reporting Agency’s to report a fraud report on your name and SS# card.  And call the bank if your checks are stolen also.
