Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp – right here in Volusia County

Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp is a 121 year old community of spiritually-minded people. Cassadaga was established in 1894 as a spiritualist community and consists of about 57 acres with 55 houses. The people who live in Cassadaga have chosen to live in a community where they can live, worship and work in harmony with their beliefs. Some residents of the Camp are mediums and offer counseling services from their homes.

Cassadaga was designated as a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 and the Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association is the oldest active religious community in the southeast. Residents and the community welcome the curious as well as believers. Many who have settled here were searching for a better way of life.

George Colby was told during a seance that we would someday be instrumental in the founding of a spiritualist community in the southeast. In 1875 Colby was led through the wilderness of Central Florida by his spirit guide to an area of hills that were not common to the area. Colby homesteaded the land and deeded 35 acres over the Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association in 1894.
