A Tale of Two Cities

Welcome to Port Orange and South Daytona, located midway down the east coast of Florida. Residents include retirees, families and young professionals who have found a comfortable and affordable life in South Volusia County.

In addition to a superb climate, Port Orange and South Daytona enjoy an excellent public school system plus five colleges within an easy commute, excellent health care facilities and a rich variety of recreation highlighted by fishing and golf. Employment and entertainment opportunities are abundant and increasing rapidly.

The area was first settled in 1804 by 20 families who came to raise indigo and sugar cane. The fertile soil was (and still is) favorable for citrus and other crops which could be shipped to market on the Halifax River. Port Orange was incorporated in 1926, South Daytona in 1951. Both cities operate under a Council-Manager form of goverment.

Nearby points of interest include a lovely botanical garden, Daytona International Speedway and miles of sandy beaches. Central Florida's attractions are within an hour-and-a-half's drive. The nation's oldest city, St. Augustine, is even closer.
