The tax break for back to school shopping has changed this year. It starts this Friday and lasts only for 3 days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday (August 5-7). In previous years it had lasted ten days but has been reduced to three this year.
The rules have changed as well. Computers have been deleted from the items you may purchase tax free and clothing items must be under $60 and school supply items must be under $15.
As we hope you are all aware the Volusia County School Board has implemented mandatory uniform requirements effective when your children go back to school in two weeks. You can click here for a link to the guidelines. Some of the locations that have these items available:
Four Townes Embroidery
Volusia School Shop
Walgreens (some stores)
So, if you would like to take advantage of the tax free weekend please get out there and do it this weekend as it is really your only option to save the state sales tax on your back to school purchases. Be safe and let’s get ready to get the kids back in school!
