Good morning world! Wishing everyone a beautiful day today from Volusia County, home of such a diversity of areas and things to see and do. Did you know that the community of Volusia, which our county is named for, started out as a trading post where an old Indian trail met the St. Johns River in the early 1800’s? Later it was an important supply depot during the Second Seminole War. The community grew as commercial steamships started traversing the St Johns River but in the 1880’s when the railroads came through Volusia was bypassed and the prosperity ended. So much great history here in our area.
